Earthquake

The simultaneous horizontal and vertical motion of a seismic event carries great hazard potential for structures, systems and equipment. Ground shaking, a common cause of damage, can be exponentially worsened by the event duration, structure characteristics, stress response, topography and more.

As part of every rapid damage assessment, our professionals gather geotechnical data, and observe and analyze damage to objectively and thoroughly evaluate the loss. Our team of engineers assesses structural issues including simple beam stability, foundation settlement, and joint failure as well as direct and indirect operational damages such as assessment and repair of commercial and industrial production equipment. Investigations also can isolate damage caused by a previous event or deferred maintenance.

Our investigation experience includes commercial, residential and industrial facilities plus unique components including marine; airports; public water and sewer utilities; cranes; elevators; HVAC; and more.
