Lightning Damage

A lightning strike’s temperatures are several times greater than the surface of the sun. Such a severe natural electrical force often leads to extensive thermal and physical damage whether it’s a direct strike or one occurring close-by.

Our engineers investigate many lightning related industrial claims including direct strikes, voltage surges or fluctuations, power outages, and arcing perforation of CSST gas tubing that results in fires. Their deep understanding of lightning also includes how electrical and mechanical systems such as HVAC systems, electric motors, alarm and communication systems, and other electronic systems can be disabled or destroyed by the resulting electrical activity.

Specialized investigators provide timely assessments to determine if lightning was the cause of the damage, if the damage can be repaired, or if affected equipment must be replaced. They can also analyze whether preventive efforts impacted the level of damage.
